(Basketball) Pistons vs Wellington Saints
On Tuesday the 17th of June my Mum, brother William and I went to the Te Awamutu Event centre to watch the Waikato Pistons play the wellington Saints. We hoped in the car at 7:20 and speed off as we were meant to be there at 7:00. We finally arrived and ran in. Mum had brought the tickets earlier that day so we just went straight to the doors. Two girls were at the door collecting tickets and putting stamps on our hands. When we went in we couldn’t find a seat. So me and William sat in the aisle beside our cousins and Mum found a seat at the top. A girl came on and sang our national anthem then we were on with it. The game soon started with the Saints winning the jump but not getting the ball in the basket. Then it was the pistons turn and in went the lay up. Next it was the Saints who got it in. It went on like this for the rest of the half. At each quarter time the cheerleaders went on and a girl started to sing to the song the cheerleaders were dancing to. The game soon went on with Pistons throwing in from the side. We cheered everytime the Pistons got a basket and were having heaps of fun. At half time they through out balls and Te-shirts and my Uncle John caught a ball and my brother a Te-shirt. In the third quarter their were lots of time outs and it went on for a while but we were relieved to see that the Pistons were up on the score board. In the fourth quarter the game was all tied up and Pistons then broke out by getting three baskets in the last thirty second. Finally it was over and the Pistons will be playing again on Friday.
(Basketball) Pistons vs Auckland Stars
On Friday the 13th of June. Mum, William, Michelle, Kristen and I went to watch the Pistons play the Auckland Stars at the Te Awamutu Event Centre. It started off by Pistons winning the jump and scoring the first basket. Then it was the Stars turn and they did exactly the same. Soon the first quarter was over and Pistons were up by three. In the break the cheerleaders went on and each team had a team talk. Soon it was back on and Pistons got the jump again. It went on and the Pistons were not getting their shoots in so at half time Stars were up. The cheer leaders came on again. The third quarter started soon after that and Pistons got the jump. In this quarter Jason Crowe the captain of the Pistons and Brian Wethers got at least three three pointers each. Then it was the third quarter and Stars were up again. Pistons won this jump and Crowe fired it down the court, he passed it to Puke Lenden and the lay up went in. Pistons won that quarter and the game. As soon as the buzzer went my cousin Kaitlyn, William and I went down onto the court and got heaps of autographs it was a really good game. I am going to watch the Pistons again on Tuesday.
Minogue Park Netball Tournament
On Sunday the 15th of June. My Netball team the TAI Soldiers went to Minogue Park for a netball tournament. Everybody meet there at 8:30 and we started with warming up and ball skills. Soon enough it was time for our first game. We were playing against Raglan Rebels and started off well. the games were twelve minutes each way with a two minute break in the middle. We won our first game 17-5 and said thank you and had a break for a game. Next game was against St Columbus Silver and we won that 17-3. We had a two game break and then were up against Paterangi Comrades. In the first half we were down but we fought hard and ended up winning 9-8. Everybody screamed, We were going to the Semi Finals. We sat down and had lunch. Then we found out we were going to be facing TAI Demons. The start of this game didn’t go very well and we were tied eight all at the end. The umpires then said that we have to go into extra time. We started off by getting in the fist goal then they did. It went on like this for a while. Then TAI Demons started shouting because they thought they had won. But they were only up by one point so we played on and in the end we came out with the victory it was a tough game and nearly everyone in both teams was crying. Our whole team shouted in victory and we were going on to the finals. We had a 15 minute break then played against the our final competitors. This time we didn’t need to go into extra time and we won in the end. Our whole team yelled in excitement. We had won our first tournament. We waited for prize giving and all went up for the prize. We each got a hat and a drink, we also got a drink holder for the game and a bag and ball. Afterwards we got a picture taken and went home.
Winter games
It turns out we didn’t win winter games. But we did win some of the sports thatb we had to play. Over all we are coming last on half a point and Puniu is winning. It goes like this. Waipa in fourth on 28 points. Waikato in third on 28.5 points. Mangapiko is in second on 36 points and Puniu is in first on 37 points. Our next competition is cross country.
Interhouse winter games
Today is Friday and hopefully this afternoon we are going to play winter games. I am in Waipa as you all know and I am going to play basketball. Basketball is a game that consists of eight players in a team and five people on the court. We are going to continue with the games. Each game was twelve minutes with no breaks. Mr Biddick was reffing and if you got a fowl you have to sub. All Basketball is in the ALC and we started off by playing Waikato. It was a really rough game but Waipa took the victory in the end. We had a break then we were up against Mangapiko. This game wasn’t as hard and we cleaned up in the end. Then it was down to Puniu and Waipa we both hadn’t lost a game yet and were going to fight to the end. After six minutes they were up by three baskets, But we weren’t stopping there we played till the end but our shooting was a bit off and we lost by three baskets. We put away the gear and went off down to the courts. Our house teachers asked us how we did then we had to march off the courts saying our chants to get the bonus points. We will see on Monday who won. Go Waipa!
Totara Spings Band Camp
On Monday the 12th of May all the band and Choir students went to Totara Springs band camp for Monday, Tuesday and came back Wednesday. In the band I play the flute. which is an instrument that you have to hold out the side of your mouth but blow down into it. I’m in the beginner band and we practise separate to the senior band and the choir. On Monday we had three rehearsals each one hour and a half long then we got one hour and a half free time. We practised the warm ups Morning tide and the rest of the warm ups on that page. We practised lightly row and oh when the saints go marching in. Also we practised mickey mouse march, Geronimo and Power rock. On Tuesday the day of our concert we had three practises as well and ended up not playing Mickey mouse March. On the night of the concert nobody was allowed to go outside unless we were going to the toilet and everyone had to get their instruments tuned and play a b all together. Then suddenly when we were all ready to go the fire alarm went off so everybody had to go to the hockey field. All the parents had to get out of the hall and Mrs German stood on a table to get everyone’s attention. Then Matt the camp organiser person ran up and said false alarm somebody left there towel on the towel rail and it had started smoking so all the parents piled back into the hall and all the students went back to the place where we were tuning. Soon we marched into the hall and sat down we started the concert with the national anthem then the senior band played then the beginner band played then the choir until we were finished all our pieces. After our last part. Mr. Stanbridges band played a couple of songs for us. After the concert parents came to see their kids we had supper and went to bed. The next day we got to do the activities first you got to do either archery or slug gun shooting and the three wire. Matamata Intermediate went on the hydro slide first then we did. Everybody came off the hydro slide with bruises and bumps. After we had lunch, packed up and said thank you we hopped on the buses and left to go back to school. At school I couldn’t find my baggage it had got left at camp. So the camp had to courier it down the next day. I think Totara Springs Band Camp was great and I want to go on it again next year.

my book review
This book is about two girls called Rorie and Elsie that have to go to their Uncle’s school because their mum and dad are missing. A few weeks after they arrived they attempt to escape. They take an umbrella and their chameleon Arthur Clarkson. Very soon Rorie gets hit by lightning and that fails their first attempt. Rorie has to stay in the sick bay for days now. Finally after three long days Rories back to normal and her and Elsie try to figure another way of getting out and soon enough they’re in the car on their way to Nolita Newbuck’s to try and get some help finding their parents.
I think this book is a very good book by Fiona Dunbar. She did a brilliant job at getting people glued to the book at a early stage. In this book sometimes Elsie would speak babyish like saying hosipal instead of hospital and an’ would be like that. I reckon that if that Uncle Harris were real I’d stay away from him. I also think that it was right for Rorie and Elsie to run away but kind of naughty. Elsie was really bad at getting side tracked and loved dressing up. She would also follow complete strangers and always got in trouble. Rorie was a quite outgoing person and loved to explore, she thought the school was crummy and didn’t agree that there was only one right way like her Uncle. I think that the characters in this book are good characters for there part. There not people who don’t it in to the book. Uncle Harris is a grumpy old man who thinks a school should have better discipline and less play stuff. In there free time they have to do work and they have to do sport and chores everyday to keep up there energy. He reckons everyone can be perfect in some way and if they are he names them perfect. This book is based in the future. Overall I think this is a great book and I would give it a star rating of 10 out of 10.
